| “We followed our King into glorious rebellion. Though the might of the Celestial Host stood against us, victory was in sight. But in the final moment, the Monkey King failed. He wasn't strong enough to defeat the Jade Emperor. The battle was lost. Our cause destroyed and our King struck down.” |

The assault of the Celestial Realm is a coup that was staged by Monkey King and his sworn brothers.
History[]
Prelude[]
Seeing the mortal realm and its people suffer, the Azure Lion served the Jade Emperor as a Celestial Warrior to protect them, but he soon realized that the Celestial Host and his people cared little for the life in the Mortal Realm. The Azure Lion left the Celestial Realm and discovered Flower Fruit Mountain, where he met Monkey King. Hearing about the Havoc in Heaven, the Azure Lion was inspired to stand up to the Jade Emperor, and eventually became sworn brothers with him, the Demon Bull King, Macaque, Peng, and Yellowtusk.[1] Together, they made a plan to overthrow the Jade Emperor so they can let the denizens be treated equally. Since Monkey King was the one who brought them all together in the first place and inspired them all, he was chosen to overthrow the Jade Emperor.[2]
Battle of the Celestial Realm[]
The Brotherhood faced off against the Celestial Court and the Celestial Armies. During the battle, the Demon Bull King fought Princess Iron Fan, but ended up falling in love with her. Despite this, the Brotherhood were close to winning until the Monkey King went up against the Jade Emperor. The Celestial Host was victorious in the duel, forcing Monkey King and the rest of the sworn brothers to surrender.[1]
Aftermath[]
After the battle, Monkey King was sealed under Five Phases Mountain and most of the Brotherhood parted ways. However, Peng and Yellowtusk stayed with the Azure Lion, still believing in their cause. The three went on a journey of their own and created a home called Camel Ridge.[1] One day, Macaque met up with the remainder of the Brotherhood as they discussed about Monkey King when the Mystic Monkey was choosing to side with the Celestial Realm or not. Macaque tried to convince the other demons to wait and see if Monkey King truly changed sides, Peng cut him off, calling Monkey King a traitor.
Hearing that Monkey King had become a disciple to Tang Sanzang, therefore becoming a hero, the sworn brothers were devastated, especially Macaque.[1][3] During the Journey to the West, the pilgrims used the Scroll of Memory to imprison the Brotherhood.[1]
