“The world is on a knife's edge. You add nothing but chaos.”
— Li Jing[src]

Li Jing is a celestial and the father of Ne Zha.

History[]

Collar the King[]

After the final standoff with the Brotherhood, Li Jing was assigned the responsibility of overseeing the Celestial Realm with the Jade Emperor gone. The universe was teetering on the brink of destruction due to the damage caused to the Pillar of Heaven by the Jade Emperor's demise, prompting the Court of the Underworld to summon MK, Monkey King, and Macaque for punishment.

Anticipating Monkey King's cunning and potential escape attempts, the Ten Kings enlisted Li Jing to ensure that he wouldn't slip away. Li Jing harbored concerns that Monkey King's actions could exacerbate the impending destruction of the universe. Despite MK's efforts to proclaim innocence, his words only served to aggravate Li Jing further. Monkey King challenged Li Jing, asserting that he couldn't be stopped, not even by the Celestial Pagoda. While Li Jing acknowledged the truth in Monkey King's claim, he swiftly subdued him by placing a circlet on his head. Ne Zha tried to intervene on their behalf, but Li Jing swiftly silenced him, putting an end to any further discussion.

After breaking out of prison, MK, Monkey King, and Macaque returned Megapolis where Li Jing caught up to them. Li Jing swiftly closed in on Monkey King, tightening the circlet around his head. Macaque intervened by teleporting both MK and Monkey King to safety inside the Team Power Truck. As they made their escape, Macaque was eventually overpowered by Li Jing, who imprisoned him in the Celestial Pagoda.

The Cage[]

Li Jing reached the Celestial Pagoda and witnessed MK attempting to control the Power of the Jade Emperor. He swiftly gathered the Monkie Kids, Monkey King, and Macaque, leading them out of the pagoda as he tried to seal it shut. Despite his efforts, MK managed to break free from the pagoda, taking the Power of the Jade Emperor with him. He successfully transformed the power back into the yellow Color Stone, much to Li Jing's disbelief. Li Jing, convinced that MK's actions were impossible, launched an attack on both MK and Monkey King. However, Ne Zha stepped in to confront Li Jing. Li Jing informs Ne Zha about the crises, attributing the deaths of all Color Stone guardians to MK and his companions, and stating that the universe was now devoid of hope. Ne Zha, in an attempt to calm Li Jing down, explained that the Monkie Kids have good intentions and that MK was hope. Li Jing argued that MK was a bringer of chaos, while Ne Zha countered by stating that the Jade Emperor was already dying. Ne Zha implored Li Jing to trust them, while MK acknowledged Li Jing's efforts to make amends but insisted that he could rectify the situation. After some persuasion, Li Jing agreed to assist them, although he was surprised that the team did not have a concrete plan once they collected all the Color Stones. MK elucidates that their next destination is the Temple of Nüwa.

Upon arrival, MK placed the Color Stones on the statue of Nüwa, leading to the summoning of the Pillar of Heaven. Unexpectedly, the Court of the Underworld arrived, cautioning that only the Harbinger of Chaos could mend the Pillar of Heaven, an event slated to occur thousands of years later at the conclusion of the Great Cycle. But the Tenth King unveils his true colors as the traitor among the court and ruthlessly eliminated the other nine rulers, emphasizing that the end of the latest cycle is imminent. Li Jing found it hard to believe that one of the Ten Kings was actually a demon in disguise. The Tenth King then discloses his true identity as the Nine-Headed Demon. In a desperate attempt to stop the Nine-Headed Demon, Li Jing and Ne Zha fight him, only to be overpowered and captured. The Nine-Headed Demon reveals his plan to plunge the universe into destruction so he could return to his realm. The Nine-Headed Demon and MK disclose that the only way to restore the Pillar of Heaven was through MK's sacrifice, emphasizing that the Color Stones alone will not suffice unlike before.

Harbinger[]

After his sacrifice, MK emerged from the Pillar of Heaven, determined to mend it and prevent the Great Cycle from reaching its conclusion. Yet, despite his efforts, he found them to be in vain. Li Jing and Ne Zha met up with the Monkie Kids and Monkey King, where Li Jing believed that the Pillar of Heaven was now irreparable, leading them all to confront the reality of the universe's impending destruction as the Great Cycle approached its end. As Li Jing looked at Ne Zha, he felt a mix of pride and regret for not having more time to share with him. Meanwhile, the Nine-Headed Demon eagerly anticipated the end of the Great Cycle, relishing the chaos that would follow. He acknowledged MK's choice to stand with his friends against despair, highlighting the significance of unity. MK proposed that they join forces to restore the Pillar of Heaven. MK then handed out Color Stones to his companions, and as Li Jing observed, the Monkie Kids and Monkey King shattered the stones, unleashing their energy across nearly all beings, including a portion of the purple Color Stone's energy that flowed to Li Jing, ultimately revitalizing both the universe and the Pillar of Heaven.

After some time, Li Jing saw Ne Zha leading the Celestial Warriors in the rebuilding of the Celestial Realm, and made him smile in approval.
