Melanokinesis is an ability which allows the user to generate and control ink.

History

Season 4

MK opened the Scroll of Memory, activating the Protective curse. The curse tried to consume every living creature in its vicinity, using its ink to do so. The curse shapeshifted into many ink forms, attacking and absorbing the monkeys in the treasure room including Monkey King. MK narrowly escaped from Shuilian Cave, while the curse returned back unto the Scroll of Memory.

Sandy mistakenly opened the Scroll of Memory, thinking it was a harmless artifact. The curse was activated, taking the forms of 4 of the original pilgrims. Tang, Pigsy and Sandy were imprisoned in the scroll, while MK and Mei escaped. Then a mysterious demon entered Shuilian Cave, eliminating the Ink Demons and sealing the scroll and all of its ink. MK and Mei agreed to the plan of the demon, Azure Lion, Monkey King's former brother, to rescue their friends. Azure opened the scroll, ensnaring the duo in ink as the curse absorbed them.

The protective curse detected a disturbance within its stories, locating the Monkie Kids. It took the form of an Ink Yellowtusk, preparing to attack MK with its mallet. Mei unsuccessfully blocked the attack, resulting in the Dragon Blade shattering and teleporting the group in random memories.

The protective curse confronted MK, using its ink to replicate his abilities. The curse and MK battled in a draw, the curse transformed into MK's foes, voicing his insecurities. Monkey King arrived, destroying the curse's current form. It regenerated using MK's ink form, and seperated the group using its ink. The curse tried to get through to the heroes, but its endeavor was ended when Monkey King encouraged the Monkie Kids to ignore these statements. The Monkie Kid's combined their efforts to free themselves and save MK. This left the curse's attempt at entrapment destroyed, leaving only splatters of ink. It spent its last moments tormenting MK, before swiftly being destroyed by him.

Azure Lion briefly accessed Melanokinesis to free his brothers, Peng and Yellowtusk. During the Brotherhood's assault on the Celestial Realm, Azure commanded several Ink Generals to help them in their pursuit. Tang opened the piece of the Scroll of Memory containing Monkey King, engulfing Macaque and MK in ink, before entering the magical plank. Azure released several ink demons to bombard MK, using the final one to conceal his attack.
