“If the old legends can be believed, the pillar is a mystic energy that holds back the Primordial Chaos.” |
— Ne Zha[src] |
The Pillar of Heaven is a mystical structure created by Nüwa to safeguard the universe from the primordial chaos that threatens to emerge from beyond. Its integrity is maintained solely through the energy of the Color Stones.
History[]
Past[]
During the ancient past, chaos was present in the universe. Nüwa created a sanctuary, the Pillar of Heaven to protect the world and her children from this threat. Along with this structure, the Great Cycle was forged. These creations in tandum, allowed the world to prosper without the looming threat of the chaos beyond. But one day, the Pillar of Heaven was broken, allowing chaos to once more plague the world. To repair the Pillar of Heaven, Nüwa created five-colored stones which mended the pillar to its original state. She entrusted these stones to five guardians who will protect the stones until the end of the cycle. After the birth of Sun Wukong, she repurposed his stone to store the Harbinger of Chaos, who at the end of the cycle, will sacrifice himself and allow the world to reset to the beginning.
Season 4[]
The death of the Jade Emperor, caused the Pillar of Heaven to be irreperably damaged. Along with the previous events, Azure Lion the new Jade Emperor and wielder of the yellow color stone, sacriced himself, leaving the stone without a holder. Fortunately, Ne Zha managed to seal the power just in time, but without a guardian of the stone, the Pillar of Heaven would be broken once more and chaos would once again reign havoc across the world.
Season 5[]
MK placed the Color Stones into the Statue of Nüwa, which revealed the Pillar of Heaven. Not long after the unveiling of the Pillar of Heaven, the Nine-Headed Demon revealed the truth that MK was the Harbinger of Chaos and the final piece to repair the Pillar of Heaven, of which he needed to sacrifice his life to achieve this goal. The demon supported MK's decision to sacrifice himself to the Pillar of Heaven. This meant that the world would be reset to the beginning, allowing the demon to return to the chaos beyond.
The others disapproved of the sentiment that MK must be sacrificed to the Pillar of Heaven for the salvation of the world from the chaos. Monkey King attempted to stop MK from sacrificing himself by attempting to take his place, as his stone was used for the creation of MK. MK prevented this from happening, successfully sacrificing himself and repairing the Pillar of Heaven, as well as causing the Great Cycle to reset abruptly.
MK sacrificing himself, led to him entering the chaos beyond. Within his time in the chaos beyond, he learned that the world he was fighting for will be reset to its beginning. Knowing this, MK returned to the mortal realm after successfully taking the color stones. Because of his return, the Pillar of Heaven's repair was stopped and it was continuing to be destroyed. The Nine-Headed Demon suddenly appeared and exclaimed that the destruction of the Pillar od Heaven will lead to the end of the cycles, thus returning him to the chaos beyond. But during the Nine-Headed Demon's speech, MK heard the word "together". MK told the others to break the color stones, to release its energy and spread it to every being in the universe. This made every being a guardian of a color stone, allowing its power to run through the universe and prevent the Pillar of Heaven's and therefore the universe's destruction. Because of this events, the Nine-Headed Demon then furiously tackled MK towards the Pillar of Heaven, traveling to the chaos beyond. He spoke to MK but eventually returned him to the mortal realm.
