“It took our combined forces to split the flame into three pieces, sealing their power. Together, we swore to keep the rings hidden for all eternity.”
— The Demon Bull King[src]

The Rings of Samadhi are three mystical artifacts that contain the Samadhi Fire.

Official description[]

This description was taken from official source. Do not modify it.

Ages ago, a fire burned that no one could put out. The fire was split into three rings and hidden where it was hoped no one could find them. If someone collects all three and rekindles the Samadhi flame, they could cause terrible destruction.[1]

History[]

Past[]

The Rings of Samadhi were created when the Samadhi Fire was removed from a young Red Son in the Samadhi Fire ritual. However, a portion of the fire entered Ao Lie during the ritual, which led to him becoming the fourth ring. This occurrence went unnoticed by all except for the Monkey King. Ne Zha, Monkey King, and the Demon Bull King entered into an agreement to conceal the rings. Ne Zha, being true to his word, flung the blue ring towards the moon, unknowingly catching the attention of Chang'e. The Demon Bull King, on the other hand, opted to retain the green ring for himself, fashioning it into a nose ring. As for Monkey King, he simply buried the orange ring deep within the Earth. However, the orange ring was eventually stumbled upon by the villagers of a humble abode, which would later evolve into Lantern City.

Season 3[]

The Monkie Kids and Monkey King devised a strategy to locate the Rings of Samadhi and utilize them in reconstructing the Samadhi Fire. Their ultimate goal was to harness the power of the fire to overcome Lady Bone Demon. Initially, their quest to find the rings proved to be fruitless. However, they unexpectedly crossed paths with the Demon Bull Family. During the encounter, MK, Mei, and Sandy stumbled upon the green ring. MK skillfully managed to pilfer it from the Demon Bull King. As their journey continued, MK was perplex about the whereabouts of the blue ring. To his and everyone else's astonishment, they discovered that it was situated on the moon. Determined to retrieve it, MK, accompanied by Pigsy and Monkey King, embarked on a voyage to the Moon base, where they encountered Chang'e. Fortunately, Chang'e graciously granted them permission to claim the blue ring as their own.

Their next destination was Lantern City, where they learned that the orange ring would be bestowed upon the victor of a talent show. However, Macaque, driven by his desire to utilize the Samadhi Fire to liberate himself from the clutches of the Lady Bone Demon, decided to seize the ring for himself. Yet, Tang managed to outmaneuver Macaque and secure the orange ring before he could. With all the rings in their possession, the Monkie Kids and Monkey King proceeded to the mystic mountain. As Tang reluctantly commenced the ritual, the Rings of Samadhi began to radiate with the fire, including the fragment embedded within Mei.

Trivia[]

  • In the sets, they're instead referred to as the Fire Rings, which is also used for the name of Ne Zha's Fire Wheels in the sets.
  • The symbol for the rings appears on the back of Red Son's coat, as well as on the back of the cloak Mei wore while they were training together.
  • Concept art indicates one of the rings was going to be held in the Dragon Palace of the East Sea instead of in the Demon Bull King's fortress. This art also indicates Ne Zha and the Celestial Realm were both needed to reforge the fire.[2]
