Season 2 is the second season of Monkie Kid. The season premiered on March 27th 2021 in Malaysia. The season contains a mini-movie special preceding the season and ten episodes.

The Spider Queen special internationally premiered on Amazon Kids+ on October 1, 2021. The first half of season 2 released on October 28th, 2021, with the second half premiering on November 18, 2021.

Season 2 arrived for Prime Video users starting on October 1st, 2022 with the Spider Queen special, with the rest of the season made available on January 1, 2023.

LEGO.com descriptions The epic adventures continue as our hero Monkie Kid (aka ‘MK’) and friends battle to defend the city against 2 more legendary and dangerous enemies: the Bone Demon and the Spider Queen. MK battles to defend the city from villains including the Spider Queen, who is exactly as creepy-looking as she sounds. Prime Video description The Spider Queen teams up with a mysterious, shadowy villain to collect powerful artifacts in order to defeat MK and his legendary teacher Monkey King.

Production

The show was confirmed to have a second and third season on July 27th, 2020 after the premiere of the pilot, and the trailer was officially revealed in China on February 2nd, 2021.

Villads Spangsberg, a showrunner for the first three seasons of the show, revealed several sneak peeks of "Revenge of the Spider Queen", "Sleep Bug", "Pig Pong Panic", and "This is the End!" while the episodes were in production and/or finished.

The ancient and evil Spider Queen emerges from her lair. With the help of a "shadowy" figure, the Spider Queen is SUPERCHARGED, using her power to capture Monkey King and Demon Bull King. It's up to MK and his team to track down ingredients for an antidote to cure the citizens and free the city.

Sets

Most of the sets are based on Spider Queen's conquest and the events that took place after "Revenge of the Spider Queen". The Cloud Bike and White Dragon Horse Jet sets are also featured along side sets based on the Revenge of the Spider Queen storyline, despite neither making an appearance in the special.

This was the first set wave to introduce Tang, Macaque, and Lady Bone Demon as minifigures, as they were absent from the first two Monkie Kid set waves despite appearing before Season 2.

• This season was adapted into comic book series in Monkie Kid Comic Story (Volumes: 6-9).
