Season 4 is the fourth season of Monkie Kid. The season premiered on January 20, 2023 in China before the trailer was released later on February 1, 2023.[1][2] The season was later released in the United States on the LEGO Channel and HappyKids on March 3, 2023. This season contains ten episodes.
When designer John Ho was explaining his set, 80043 Yellow Tusk Elephant, he mentioned that the team seemed to have gone back to the past.[4]
Season 4 is the first season to come out before the release of a poster or trailer.
This is the first season to have two versions of the opening sequence, with the intro to "The Jade Emperor" being different from the others.
This season's English broadcast was first seen on Cartoon Network Korea, a few weeks before the eventual United States premiere.
The season was released via search on streaming services before the official launch on March 10, 2023.[5]
This is also the first time episodes of Monkie Kid have premiered in English in the United States before any other country.
Some plot elements of this season are somewhat similar to the film "The Monkey King: Havoc in Heaven's Palace", a 2014 film which plot involves one of the Monkey King's sworn brothers staging a coup on Heaven. The film also includes Nüwa, who is not in the Journey to the West novel.
It may also draw inspiration from Journey to the West II, which features Nüwa creating Sun Wukong using one of the five-colored stones like the previously mentioned film.
