“I have no idea how it is you come to stand here once more, but you are not welcome in the Celestial Realm. Leave this place, or we will be forced to cut you down again. But this time, there won’t be any coming back.”
“You can try and stop us, Lotus Prince, but I can assure you the Jade Emperor's tyrannical rule ends today.”
Ne Zha and Azure Lion[src]

The Celestial Armies find themselves on the brink of defeat as they confront the forces of the Brotherhood and the Ink Demons. They were being sucked into the Scroll of Memory, leaving only a few members to escape. Ne Zha implored the remaining Celestial Warriors to stand firm, but to no avail. Red Son was swiftly overwhelmed by Azure Lion. With a firm grip on Red Son's face, Azure Lion used yet another fragment of the scroll, ensnaring Red Son within its confines.

Ne Zha defended against the Brotherhood's onslaught all by himself. Despite his efforts, he was overwhelmed by their attacks. Azure Lion urged Ne Zha to prioritize his own safety over serving the Jade Emperor, emphasizing the value of his life above the host. Ne Zha remained resolute in his commitment to his cause, declaring that his duty was of greater importance than his own well-being. Just as the situation seemed dire, the Monkie Kids arrived on the Cloud Airship through a portal. Mei swiftly moved to retrieve the plank containing Monkey King, but her escape was thwarted by the interference of Yellowtusk and Peng. Pigsy and Sandy confronted the two demons, while Tang focused on aiding Ne Zha by removing the projectiles that injured Ne Zha. Despite Azure Lion's warning against rebellion, Ne Zha remained steadfast in his determination to protect the Jade Emperor, emphasizing the urgency of preventing the Brotherhood from reaching their target. Tang suggested seeking assistance from the Jade Emperor, but Ne Zha made it clear that it was an unattainable option. Azure Lion raised doubts about the Jade Emperor's willingness to help, highlighting his self-centered nature and disregard for the hardships faced by his devoted followers, despite possessing the ability to make a positive impact on the world. Ne Zha countered by stating that regardless of Azure Lion's opinion, the Jade Emperor held a significant role beyond his understanding. However, Azure Lion remained steadfast in his decision to eliminate the heroes. Suddenly, MK intervened by disarming Azure Lion and retrieving the plank trapping Monkey King. As MK regrouped with his friends, Azure Lion declared how he'll overcome any obstacles, including MK. Despite MK's efforts to avoid confrontation, Azure Lion stood firm in his resolve to take action against them. In a last-ditch effort, MK urged Tang to create a portal for their escape. Tang swiftly activated the teleportation process, much to Ne Zha's disappointment. The tense situation in the Celestial Realm reached a climax as Azure Lion prepared to eliminate the heroes, only to be thwarted by their timely escape.

As the Brotherhood made their entrance into the palace, they came face to face with the Jade Emperor. The Jade Emperor acknowledged the impeccable timing of their arrival. He admitted that if he hadn't been on the brink of death, Azure's chances of overthrowing him would have been slim. However, despite this revelation, the Jade Emperor hoped that Azure would not be upset by the news. Azure's determination caught the attention of the Jade Emperor, who found amusement in his words. The Jade Emperor questioned Azure's belief in being the rightful successor. The Jade Emperor stepped down from his throne, causing the entire room to tremble. The Jade Emperor probed Azure further, asking him how he had come to this point and whether he ever doubted his own abilities. The Jade Emperor even suggested that Azure may have been too self-absorbed to realize that he was merely a pawn in someone else's grand scheme. However, the Jade Emperor was not one to dismiss Azure's aspirations entirely. In a gesture of both challenge and warning, he offered Azure the opportunity to contend for the throne. Drawing his sword, the Jade Emperor symbolically indicated that Azure would have to prove his worth and earn the throne through a fight. With a swift strike, Azure Lion killed the Jade Emperor, causing the Pillar of Heaven to damage. In the midst of the universe being torn apart, Azure Lion absorbed the power of the fallen Jade Emperor. It was a sight that left Peng and Yellowtusk filled with concern, but Azure Lion claimed that the battle was finally over and their true work could now begin.
