Show Me the Monster is the sixth episode of Season 4 and the fortieth episode overall of Monkie Kid.

Synopsis[]

This description was taken from official source. Do not modify it.

Trapped in the body of his ancestor, Sandy challenges Pigsy to a fight! Meanwhile, MK meets the wise master who taught Monkey King all he knows.[1]

Plot[]

Pigsy tries to look for the others until he comes across a crying Sha Wujing, learning that Sandy hasn't awoken from his ancestor yet. He tries to get Sha Wujing moving before the monster that made all the bones throughout the field finds them. Sha Wujing explains that the monster can only be defeated by a powerful warrior, asking Pigsy if he is one. Pigsy answers yes, but he soon learns that Sha Wujing is the one who made all the bones, revealing that the victims were actually those who had attempted to challenge him. Sha Wujing then began to fight Pigsy in a match to the death.

In the meantime, the Acolyte brings MK inside the Temple of the Tilted Moon and Three Stars and MK realizes this is the place where Monkey King learned from Master Subodhi. However, when he wants to find him, two of Master Subodhi's students declare he is not worthy for seeing someone who hasn't appeared in fifty years on his first day. They brag how they've nearly learned two of the 72 transformations so MK defeats them all with his 72 transformations and escapes into a nearby room, where he discovers Master Subodhi, who knows who he is and what he needs.

Back in the arena, Sha Wujing demands Pigsy to stop avoiding him and show him his monster. Pigsy tries to talk him out of fighting but Sha Wujing tells him to stop talking, leaving him no choice but to show him what he can do with his powers.

Surprised by the revelation, MK questions Master Subodhi's familiarity with his identity within the Scroll of Memory. Master Subodhi asserts his authority as the Great Master Subodhi, stating his extensive knowledge encompasses even the details of MK's existence within the scroll. MK inquires if Master Subodhi can aid him in finding Monkey King, rescuing his friends, and breaking the protective curse. However, Master Subodhi reproaches MK, stressing that their current predicament extends beyond Monkey King and delves into MK. Master Subodhi challenges MK's perception of his own normalcy, highlighting that his students dedicate lifetimes to attain even a fraction of MK's power. Master Subodhi asserts his status as the greatest master in history, yet acknowledges that his mentorship alone cannot account for Monkey King's extraordinary learning speed, just as it cannot explain MK's abilities. Master Subodhi has MK tell him what he remembers of his childhood. MK initially struggled, but then he recalled the day he ended up at Pigsy's Noodles as a toddler. It was on that day that Pigsy took him under his care, which is why MK considers him as his dad. MK also remembered seeing Monkey King next to his magic stone and a lady sculpting various animals, including a small monkey sculpture that caught his attention. With the vision of the magic stone in mind, MK politely asked Master Subodhi to take him to Flower Fruit Mountain. Master Subodhi agreed to his request. However, upon their arrival, MK was confused to find that Monkey King was nowhere to be seen, only the magic stone and the monkey sculpture, which was broken.

Pigsy is able to defeat Sha Wujing, who tells him to finish him off. But Pigsy refuses, claiming that just because they look different doesn't make them monsters; that they don't have to be monsters. He also shares how Sha Wujing helped his friends in the past as Sandy and extends his hand out to him. However, Sha Wujing uses it as an opportunity to take advantage of Pigsy and disagrees, saying that he will always be the monster the world wanted him to be. He's about to kill Pigsy when Mo drops out of the sky and purrs against Sha Wujing, helping restore his memories. Mei and Tang then teleport in and they all share a hug before leaving to look for MK.

On the mountain, MK asks Master Subodhi why Monkey King isn't here since that is his stone. But Master Subodhi reveals that he did not bring MK because of Monkey King and hints that he was also born from a stone. Master Subodhi clarified the rationale behind MK being the focal point of the adventures and his ability to harness Wukong's powers. This revelation initially does not perturb MK, as he believes he shares similarities with Monkey King. However, Master Subodhi clarifies that MK's birth differs from Monkey King's, rendering him distinct and enigmatic in his own right. He also tells him that fate has big plans for him as his journey is only just beginning and melts away as the protective curse encloses on MK.
