“I used to be the most feared creature in the land. I wasn't a queen, I was the queen. Empress of Terror and Mistress of Horror.” |
— The Spider Queen[src] |
The Spider Queen was the leader of the Spider Demons and one of the many Demons that once fought the Monkey King.
After her first encounter with the Monkie Kids, the Spider Queen planned to take over Megapolis during New Year's with the help of a little girl, but failed. However, the girl retrieved the Trigram Furnace so they could use it to create a giant mech that would help her take over Megapolis.
The Spider Queen eventually learned that the girl was actually the Lady Bone Demon and she was as the final ingredient to create the bone mech.
Official description[]
Demons and Other Bad GuysAfter being thwarted in her first encounter with MK, Spider Queen is out for revenge. To help her take over the city, she’s concocted a powerful venom that transforms anything it touches into spider minions. Which, you know, is less than ideal…[3] |
History[]
Past[]
The Spider Queen was once an oppressive monarch in the mortal realm until one day, she engaged in a battle with Monkey King, losing the duel and her empire as a result. As years passed, the Spider Queen moved to the sewers of Megapolis and began planning her revenge.[2]
Noodles or Death[]
At a market, the Spider Queen flirted with Pigsy, suggesting that he might be interested in purchasing some of her ingredients. Pigsy, caught off guard by Spider Queen's attention, asked about the vegetables she was selling. The Spider Queen boasted that her store was the best in the market, and invited Pigsy and Tang to explore her collection. Intrigued by her offer, Pigsy eagerly followed her lead, despite Tang's reluctance. Once inside, the Spider Queen led Pigsy and Tang deeper into her store. Without warning, the Spider Queen opened a trap door, and Pigsy and Tang plummeted into the Silken Web Cave.
At the Silken Web Cave, Tang blamed Pigsy for their capture, only to be interrupted by the arrival of the Spider Queen. The Spider Queen revealed her past as a powerful queen and lamented the state her empire. Despite her diminished status, she asserted her authority and declares that everyone she captured would serve a purpose. Tang asked Spider Queen what they were expected to do, to which she responded that they would become her dinner. As Spider Queen prepared her dinner, Tang reassured Pigsy that MK would come to their rescue soon. However, the Spider Queen interrupted their conversation and claimed that no one will save them. Tang confidently responded that MK will come to their aid, but the Spider Queen questioned why he would help them. Tang explained that he was like a father figure to MK and warns the Spider Queen to release them before MK arrived. The Spider Queen found Tang's threat intriguing and decided to postpone her meal to prepare for MK's arrival.
MK, Mei, Sandy, and Mo ventured to the Silken Web Cave. However, the Spider Queen captured all of them except for MK. The Spider Queen taunted MK, questioning his fear of spiders, while relentlessly pursuing him. The Spider Queen mocked MK, belittling him. She then pinned him against a spider web. As she took a piece of MK's hair, she reveals her intentions, admitting that she sees MK as nothing more than a means to an end and planned on using the power he possessed to reclaim her throne. The Monkie Kids interjected and Mei pressed a button on the speedboat that activated a laser, which distracted the Spider Queen long enough for MK to escape. MK struggled to get his hands on the Golden Staff, but the Spider Queen came back, attacking him with her mech. The ground beneath them began to crumble, causing the Spider Queen and the Monkie Kids to fall. The Spider Queen, however, managed to use her mech to save herself.
The Spider Queen exuded confidence as she dismisses the Monkie Kids' belief in their victory. She placed the strand of MK's hair into a cauldron. She then declared that her plan had only just commenced.
Revenge of the Spider Queen[]
At the New Year's celebration, the Spider Queen used MK's hair to power up the Spider-Bots. With only one strand of hair remaining, she asked Syntax if he had completed the assigned task. Syntax assured her that he had finished and that the machine would function as long as the venom was effective. Confident in her plan, the Spider Queen approached a cauldron and deposited the final piece of MK's hair into it. The action activated a Spider-Bot, which emerged from the cauldron but promptly exploded, causing the Spider Queen to scream in frustration. She refused to accept that her plan had failed and that her reign was over. Just then, Spider Queen heard a voice offering her a glimmer of hope. The Spider Queen demanded the person to reveal themself. A little girl revealed herself explained that she wished to be of service to the Spider Queen. The Spider Queen was skeptical and questioned the girl's identity. The little girl replied that she was no one of importance, just an admirer who wanted to help. The girl believed that once the Spider Queen was back in power, she would be capable of destroying Monkey King once and for all. Spider Queen informed the girl that the Monkey King had taken everything from her and asked what made her think it would be so easy to reclaim her throne. The little girl suggests that they use a potion to help. The Spider Queen is surprised to see it, as she hasn't seen one with such a color scheme in quite some time. The girl approached the cauldron and poured the potion in, summoning a functional Spider-Bot. The Spider Queen was pleased and decided to test it out on Syntax, who had been transformed into a Spider Demon as a result of the attack. The Spider Queen is delighted with the result. She asked the little girl what she wanted in return for her help. The girl replied that she merely wished to see the Spider Queen fulfill her destiny. Impressed with the girl's loyalty, the Spider Queen summoned the rest of her army.
As the New Year's parade unfold, Spider Queen and her legion make an entrance on a parade float. Overwhelmed with joy, the Spider Queen took note of the gathered crowd, all united to celebrate the Year of the Spider. With a commanding presence, she directed the Spider Demons to launch an attack on the people, symbolizing her victorious comeback. Amidst the ensuing chaos, the Spider Queen activated her spider mech.
The Spider Queen taunted Monkey King, suggesting that he had finally left in hiding just to face her. However, Monkey King dismissively referred to her as the Spider Princess. The Spider Queen corrected him, asserting her title as the Spider Queen and emphasizing her superiority. She then revealed her plan to destroy Monkey King, mentioning MK whom she expected to confront before him. As the Spider Queen launched her attack on Monkey King, she captured him using spider webs that would drain his power until his death. With Monkey King captured, the Spider Queen reveled in her victory and powered up the spider mech. Confidently, she asserted that no one would be able to stop her.
Spider Queen successfully captured the Demon Bull King, who acknowledged that he has fallen if someone like Spider Queen can overpower him. The Spider Queen dismissed any doubts about her authority, stating that she was indeed the Queen of Spiders and that the Demon Bull King was merely resource for her mech. She also revealed that the Demon Bull King was not the only one she had captured, and that she had also managed to capture other demons and the Monkey King, although she had not yet caught Princess Iron Fan. Syntax and Huntsman approached the Spider Queen with news about Red Son, who managed to escape. Frustrated by the development, the Spider Queen demanded that Syntax find him immediately. As Syntax and Huntsman left, the little girl suggested capturing MK as well, to which the Spider Queen agreed, expressing her desire to eliminate any potential threats posed by the Monkie Kids.

Sleep Bug[]
Spider Queen was frustrated at losing the battle during her takeover in New Year’s. The little girl informed her that their possession of the Trigram Furnace would enable them to progress towards Spider Queen's ultimate destiny. Curiosity piqued, the Spider Queen questioned the significance of the artifact the little girl projected and what purpose it served. In response, the little girl clarified that the artifact was just the first of six powerful items they needed to acquire. However, it was currently locked away in the Cloud. To retrieve it, Syntax offered to break into the Cloud and retrieve the locked box for Spider Queen. Naturally skeptical, Spider Queen inquired about Syntax's plan to accomplish the task. Syntax explained that the Cloud not only housed knowledge but was also intricately connected to all the technology in the world. Exploiting the connection, Syntax believed he could retrieve the artifact by creating an app called Sleep Bug, which would lull everyone who played it into a deep slumber, allowing Syntax to venture into the Cloud and retrieve the coveted item without interference.
Syntax arrived with the locked box, catching the attention of the Spider Queen. The little girl used the Skeleton Key to unlock the box, revealing a projection of the bone mech. Intrigued by the sight, the Spider Queen couldn't help but inquire about the nature of the contraption. The little girl elucidated that the bone mech was a powerful mech that could be created by gathering five additional artifacts. With the completion of the collection, the Spider Queen would be able to fulfill her destiny.

72 Transformations[]
After growing more suspicious of the Lady Bone Demon, Spider Queen and the Spider Demons hide deeper in the Silken Web Cave, where they begin rebuilding their Spider mech.
MK catches on of Spider Queen's Spider-Bots stealing Pigsy's sign, and he follows it inside the Silken Web Cave. After leading away the Spider Demons, he destroys the Spider mech. Spider Queen and MK argued for a little, before Lady Bone Demon attacked them. Spider Queen tells MK to run away. She then jumps in to attack the ghosts of the Spider Demons, and MK runs away.
This is the End![]
After being defeated by Lady Bone Demon, Spider Queen is hung up in the air, panickingly telling Lady Bone Demon that she had promised her destiny. However, Lady Bone Demon remarked that her destiny was to be the final ingredient for her mech. She is then dragged down into the Trigram Furnace by dark tentacles, where she is killed.
Embrace Your Destiny[]
Having been killed in the Trigram Furnace, Spider Queen's ghost was used by Lady Bone Demon. She fought Sandy, Tang, and Pigsy while Red Son attempted to free Mei from where Lady Bone Demon has trapped her.
Personality[]
Spider Queen was a prideful demon. She wanted power above anything else, often declaring that she is "the queen". She was boastful, throwing herself a party and mocking the demons she captured after taking over Megapolis. She didn't react well to losing, breaking down and attempting to destroy when her mech was powered down. Though after figuring out that the little girl was Lady Bone Demon, she tried to stop her, even urging MK to run.

Behind the Scenes[]
- Although the Spider Queen was not in the original Journey to the West, she is likely based on the seven Spider Demon sisters based in Silk Cave at Silk Ridge.[4]
- Some Journey to the West adaptations also feature a Spider Queen character, such as Journey to the West: Legends of the Monkey King and The Fire Ball.
- In the novel, the Spider sisters were allied with the Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord, a centipede demon.
Trivia[]
- Spider Queen and the Spider Demons' were seen with a diamond insignia that somewhat resembled the hourglass marking on a black widow spider's back.
- Female black widows are known for engaging in several types of cannibalism, especially of their mate, which is similar to Spider Queen's original plan in "Noodles or Death".
- Spider Queen's real legs can only be seen once, when she greets Monkey King in "Revenge of the Spider Queen".
- In Monkie Kid Almighty Game Challenge, Spider Queen says she views the spiders in her cave as her children. [5]
- In 80054 Megapolis City, she is a tailor and owns a fabric store. This is a reference to her weaving webs, as now in the peaceful setting of the set, she instead weaves fabric.
