The Brotherhood was a group of sworn brothers, their main goal was to bring peace to the mortal realm by killing the Jade Emperor.
History[]
Past[]
At some point after the Havoc in Heaven, Monkey King became sworn brothers with the Demon Bull King, Macaque, Azure Lion, Peng, and Yellowtusk. Because of Monkey King's courage to stand up to the Jade Emperor, the rest of the Brotherhood were inspired to stand up as well, fighting for what's right.[2] When the Brotherhood staged an assault on the Celestial Realm, they were close to winning until the Jade Emperor arrived, defeating Monkey King as the Brotherhood were forced to surrender.[3]
After their failure to conquer the Celestial Realm, most of the Brotherhood parted ways. Monkey King became a disciple to Tang Sanzang, Macaque went on his own path, and the Demon Bull King left to be with Princess Iron Fan. The remainder of the sworn brothers Azure Lion, Peng, and Yellowtusk, who were known to be an unstoppable force.[4] went on a journey to make a home of their own, creating Camel Ridge.[3] However, the Brotherhood was imprisoned inside the Scroll of Memory by the pilgrims.[3]
Season 4[]
As time passed, Azure Lion met MK and Mei when the rest of Monkie Kids and Monkey King were imprisoned in the Scroll of Memory. Tricking them to free his sworn brothers as well, Azure Lion agreed to help MK and Mei on their mission to rescue their friends in the scroll.[2] When the Monkie Kids destroyed the protective curse, Azure Lion betrayed them as Peng and Yellowtusk were freed from the scroll. With the trio reunited, the Brotherhood planned to stage another assault on the Celestial Realm.[3]
Hoping to convince the Demon Bull King to rejoin, the Brotherhood attacked the fortress, causing a fight between the two sides. Azure accused D.B.K. of being weak because of his love for Princess Iron Fan, but D.B.K. defended his family. The fight ended with Princess Iron Fan and D.B.K. trapped in the Scroll of Memory. The Brotherhood went to the Celestial Realm, where Ne Zha warned them to leave. The Brotherhood refused and started a battle with the Celestial Armies.[4]
The Celestial Armies lost to the Brotherhood. Then, Mei led the Monkie Kids through a portal to help Ne Zha. But the Brotherhood outmatched them, forcing the Monkie Kids and Ne Zha to retreat. The Jade Emperor saw the Brotherhood's arrival and knew it was timely, knowing that the Brotherhood wouldn't have succeeded in overthrowing him if his time had not already come to an end. The Jade Emperor then challenged Azure's claim to the throne, but he was killed as Azure absorbed his power. With the task completed, the Brotherhood signified the commencement of making a better world.[5]
The Emperor's Wrath[]
After the Jade Emperor's dethronement, the Brotherhood implemented their plan to create a superior world. Unfortunately, their hasty removal of the Jade Emperor and underestimation of his power caused Azure to struggle with his newfound abilities, leading to a devastating impact on his body and pushing the universe to be destroyed. The Brotherhood suspected that Monkey King's presence was hindering Azure's progress, prompting them to launch an attack on the Monkie Kids, Monkey King, and Macaque at Flower Fruit Mountain with the intention of eliminating the Monkey King.[6]
During the conflict, Peng confronted Macaque and Mei, while Yellowtusk engaged in combat with Pigsy, Tang, and Sandy, who attempted to negotiate with him. Meanwhile, Azure faced off against MK and Monkey King. The Brotherhood was unaware that they were being lured into a trap by the Monkie Kids, who sought to cause Azure Lion to lose the Scroll of Memory, allowing the Monkie Kids to re-incarcerate the Brotherhood.[6][7] Following Azure Lion's loss of control over the Power of the Jade Emperor, the universe was on the brink of destruction, prompting Peng to withdraw and leave Azure and Yellowtusk behind. Meanwhile, Yellowtusk was convinced to assist the Monkie Kids, and Azure made the ultimate sacrifice to restore the universe.[8]

Behind the Scenes[]
- The Brotherhood is based on Monkey King's sworn brothers and the Demons Kings of Lion Camel Ridge from Journey to the West. Macaque, the Azure Lion, and Peng appear in the role of the Macaque King, the Lion Camel King, and the Peng Demon King respectively. The Demon Kings of Lion Camel Ridge are portrayed as the remainder of the sworn brothers in Monkie Kid: the Azure Lion, Peng, and Yellowtusk.
- Monkie Kid's version of the Brotherhood is missing a member, that being either the Flood Dragon Demon King or the Golden-Haired Monkey King, one of which Yellowtusk takes the place of.
- In Journey to the West, Azure Lion and Yellowtusk were steeds of Bodhisattvas while the Golden-Winged Peng was employed under the Buddha[9], this is referenced in "The Plan Man", where Azure Lion reveals the trio met in the Celestial Realm.
Trivia[]
- The reforged Brotherhood - Azure Lion, Peng, and Yellowtusk - are some of the first Monkie Kid characters to have unique bodies that don't resemble the build of any pre-existing LEGO bodies. They are also some of the first anthropomorphized characters to have non-square feet.
- This differentiates them from their minifigures, which use the regular torso and legs.
- Azure Lion, Yellowtusk, and Peng all wear an insignia of a magenta circle in a purple hourglass. Yellowtusk's is in his crown, Azure Lion's is on his belt, and Peng's is on their chest.
- In the sets, the Brotherhood are the only villainous faction not to use any vehicles.
