Short Description

The gang gear up and prepare for their own assault on the Celestial Realm.[1]

Plot[]

In a flashback, the Brotherhood stationed at Flower Fruit Mountain, making preparations for their imminent assault on the Celestial Realm. Monkey King expresses his excitement and eagerness for the upcoming battle, addressing Azure Lion and ensuring the team's readiness. He even took a moment to assist Macaque with his attire, emphasizing the importance of proper preparation. Azure Lion spoke of the significance of their mission, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the people. Monkey King conveyed his sincere appreciation to Azure and eagerly anticipated a triumphant future alongside the Brotherhood.

In the present, Azure Lion lost control over the Power of the Jade Emperor. Yellowtusk used the ancestral weapons to help Azure as the Celestial Realm was repaired. Yellowtusk remarked that their previous aspiration to claim the Jade Emperor's throne too early may have been a mistake. Azure Lion remained steadfast in his unwavering commitment to attaining mastery over his newfound abilities, with the ultimate goal of utilizing them to effect positive change in the world. Despite the damage inflicted upon the Celestial Realm, Azure Lion maintained that the cost is justifiable, as no achievement could be attained without making sacrifices.

In Flower Fruit Mountain, Monkey King gathered the Monkie Kids and Ne Zha for an enlightening learning session. Tang was filled with eagerness as he pondered the number of wise masters he was fortunate enough to be tutored by. However, Ne Zha seemed to doubt Monkey King's wisdom, eagerly awaiting the arrival of a true mentor who could guide them all. Monkey King hurled a crayon towards Ne Zha, causing the latter to worry that one of his stitches had burst. Monkey King simply advised Ne Zha to walk off the discomfort, reminding him of his immortality and referring to him as a baby for making a fuss. Pigsy questioned Monkey King about defeating the Brotherhood, only to be met with a stern warning and threat of a crayon being hurled at him as well. Monkey King emphasizes the need to defeat the Brotherhood. He explained that Peng posed the greatest threat they had ever encountered. However, despite Peng's formidable fighting skills, their primary concern was self-preservation. Monkey King acknowledged that once the battle started to turn against Peng, they would flee. Mei expressed her disdain for Peng, labeling them as the worst. Monkey King praised Yellowtusk for being tough, intelligent, and deceptively fast. Even without the ancestral weapons, Yellowtusk was a formidable opponent. Monkey King believed that there might be a chance to reason with Yellowtusk. Tang, however, was doubtful about the feasibility of this plan. Mei then inquired about Azure Lion. Monkey King revealed his strategy, stating that he and MK would personally handle Azure Lion. Macaque arrived, jokingly comparing Azure's relentless pursuit of Monkey King to an unpleasant odor, teasing Monkey King about his supposed stench. Monkey King, asserting his authority, reminded him that he possessed a crayon. He boasted about his past achievement of almost defeating the Jade Emperor single-handedly, and confidently declared that Azure Lion stood no chance against him. However, Ne Zha raised concerns about Azure's possession of the Scroll of Memory, which made him unstoppable considering how he took down the Celestial Armies with it. MK suggested that they should try to take the scroll away from Azure, but Ne Zha dismissed this idea as impossible. In response to Ne Zha's defiance, Monkey King struck him with another crayon. Misinterpreting Ne Zha's reaction as agreement, MK assumed that Ne Zha was now on board with the plan.

The Monkie Kids gathered at the training grounds for a sparring session with Monkey King, aiming to enhance their combat skills. Monkey King took the opportunity to share his past experiences fighting alongside the Brotherhood and the pilgrims, inspiring the Monkie Kids with tales of bravery and heroism. He assured them that they possessed untapped strength. As the session progressed, MK and Mei were fortunate enough to receive Power-up armor, courtesy of the Golden Staff and Dragon Blade. However, Tang and Pigsy were left disappointed as they did not receive any armor. Mei, in a playful manner, mimicked Master Subodhi by suggesting that they would earn their armor when the time was right. Pigsy agreed with this sentiment initially, but his mood quickly soured when he discovered that Mei was teasing him for receiving star stickers from Master Subodhi before she did. Mei jokingly advised Pigsy and the rest that they should have been more careful with their ancestral weapons, which only served to further infuriate Pigsy.

Monkey King admits that his planning skills are lacking and decides to pass the task onto MK. MK is curious as to why he has been chosen for the job. Monkey King explains that MK is renowned for his exceptional planning abilities. Pigsy agrees with the decision and asks MK to come up with a special plan. MK agrees with Ne Zha's observation that they cannot defeat Azure while he possesses the Power of the Jade Emperor and the Scroll of Memory. Monkey King proposes that he can take on Azure alone, but MK disagrees and proposes a plan to trap the Brotherhood inside the scroll. MK outlines the steps of the plan, which involve infiltrating the Celestial Realm using the Cloud Airship and retrieving the scroll from Azure. MK emphasizes the importance of not falling into the trap of the scroll and suggests that Team A and Team B keep Peng and Yellowtusk occupied, respectively, while Monkey King and himself retrieve the scroll. Pigsy asks about the distinction between Team A and Team B. Mei jokingly recommends that if Pigsy is unsure, he is most likely on Team B. MK explains that once they have the scroll, they will free the victims trapped by Azure. They will imprison the Brotherhood inside the Scroll of Memory, and securely store the scroll so it can not be used against them. Tang believes that their plan will lead to their downfall, which is supported by Ne Zha. However, Mei offers an alternative perspective on MK's plan.

In the dining halls of the Celestial Palace, Yellowtusk and Peng were seated at a table. Peng was disappointed at the lack of grandeur now that they are in charge, mentioning how even the waitstaff have been trapped in the Scroll of Memory, forcing them to pour their own drinks. Yellowtusk points out that there is more at stake than just the absence of waiters. He observes that the world they envisioned is not the reality they are facing. Peng recommends that a little chaos might actually be beneficial for the world. But Yellowtusk dismisses Peng's lightheartedness, emphasizing that Azure is unable to control the Power of the Jade Emperor. Yellowtusk explains that Azure's lack of control is causing the universe to crumble, and despite his efforts to contain it, there is little hope left. Just then, Azure arrives, startling Peng and Yellowtusk as the Celestial Realm begins to crack. Azure reminisces about the times they feasted together in the dining halls, reflecting on the bond they formed as friends. He was optimistic about the future and suggests celebrating their potential for greatness. However, Yellowtusk interjects, dampening the mood by stating that there is little cause for celebration. Peng tries to intervene but Yellowtusk insists on speaking his mind. He confronts Azure, asserting that he is incapable of containing the overwhelming power he possesses. Yellowtusk admits that despite the flaws in the Jade Emperor's rule, they underestimated his strength. He emphasizes that they cannot fix the world's problems if the universe is destroyed. Azure Lion, becomes defensive and pulls out the Scroll of Memory. He accuses Yellowtusk and Peng of still being imprisoned if it weren't for him, highlighting his role in their liberation. However, his anger quickly subsides, and he apologizes, revealing that the burden of the Monkey King and MK weighs heavily on him. Peng advises Azure Lion that his focus should not be on Monkey King and the Monkie Kids. They dismiss their attempts at heroism as mere child's play. But Azure Lion's attention is caught when he learns that Monkey King is still alive, freed by MK and Macaque. Azure Lion berates himself for not seeing the truth sooner. He believed that mere thought of Monkey King distracts him from his ultimate goal of remaking the world. He firmly believes that he cannot move forward until Monkey King is destroyed. Yellowtusk reminds Azure Lion that there are more pressing matters at hand than personal grudges. But Azure Lion refuses to be an idle god like the original Jade Emperor. In a swift motion with his sword, Azure Lion teleports himself and his sworn brothers to face the Monkey King.

As the Monkie Kids, Monkey King, Macaque, and the monkeys gather at Flower Fruit Mountain, they are prepared for the upcoming battle. Monkey King informs MK that they are more than capable of emerging victorious. However, he was disappointed that he couldn't provide proper training for MK's Mystic Monkey form. MK confesses that he has been contemplating the idea of saving his transformation for a future occasion, as he has never truly required such a form in the past. Monkey King emphasizes that there might not be a next time if they fail. The fate of the universe hangs in the balance, and this is the moment they must seize. MK remains unfazed, confident in the Power-up armor. He believes that his appearance alone will be enough to overcome any obstacle. Monkey King tries to make MK comprehend the importance of embracing his full power. He explains that relying solely on new armor won't be sufficient; they must unleash their full force against Azure. Before MK could say anything else, the sky changes color, signaling the arrival of the Brotherhood. Macaque and the other Monkie Kids appear through a shadow portal, urging everyone to take cover. Azure Lion accuses them of treason against him and reveals his intentions to destroy Monkey King.

Trivia[]

  • Tang breaks the fourth wall when he exclaims excitedly how he can't believe how many wise masters he's been trained by this season.
  • Peng being illustrated farting in many of MK's illustrations may be a reference to the characters appearance in The Complete Vernacular Biography of Yue Fei, where the Golden-Winged Dapeng killed a celestial for farting during the Buddhas seminar.[2]
  • The weapon rack on Flower Fruit Mountain in the opening flashback was seen earlier in the show in Macaque's lair. [3]
  • Mei taunts Pigsy about the need to earn his Power-up armor, using the same tone as Subodhi's remark about Mei having to earn her silver star.
    • MK and Mei acquire their armor prior to Pigsy, Tang, and Sandy, just like how their armor is featured in the Winter sets of 2023, while Pigsy, Tang, and Sandy's armor is showcased in the Summer sets of the same year.
  • Monkey King admits that his planning skills need work. This is reminiscent of "The Samadhi Fire," where Ne Zha and MK disapproved of Monkey King's plan to extract the Samadhi Fire from Mei and use it against Lady Bone Demon due to how improvised and vague it was.

Errors[]

  • The HappyKids subtitles incorrectly transcribe the line "You would still be locked away!" as "You'll be locked away!".
