Extended

After a pitstop, the heroes get back on the road. Strangely, MK notices they're headed East, not West! Something's wrong! We soon learn Macaque has tricked them and is bringing MK back to Lady Bone Demon. Meanwhile, Pigsy, Mr Tang, and Monkey King realise they've been separated from the others, but before they can go looking for them, they are attacked by a horrifying demon![2]

Plot[]

In the desert, Macaque uses the Bone Demon Compass to track down Monkey King and MK. As he reminisces about the past, he vividly remembered the Mayor taking him Megapolis to speak with Lady Bone Demon.

During a flashback, Macaque witnesses Megapolis crystalized and discovers the Golden Staff, understanding that it was all the work of Lady Bone Demon. Lady Bone Demon confronts Macaque about his betrayal, but he tries to explain his reasoning. She reminds him of her identity and how she resurrected him after his battle with Monkey King. In exchange for his revival, Macaque was supposed to release Lady Bone Demon from the Bone Demon Crypt using the Skeleton Key, allowing her to proceed with her plan. However, Macaque decides to discard the key instead. Lady Bone Demon presents Macaque with an opportunity for redemption, on the condition that he captures Monkey King and MK. To ensure his compliance, she provided him with the compass, which can track them down no matter where they go. Recognizing the usefulness of the compass, Macaque agrees to the task. However, before he can make any further plans, chains suddenly emerge from the ground and restrain him. Lady Bone Demon explains that these chains serve as a reminder of Macaque's untrustworthiness and his inability to willingly follow the path of destiny. She warns him that if he were to betray or fail her, he would meet his demise at her hands. With a final command, she designates Macaque as her champion and instructs him to bring Monkey King and MK to her.

Tang and Pigsy are taking down camp. Tang notices Monkey King, who was still meditating, glowing and wonders if it's a good sign. Pigsy complains that Monkey King just sits around glowing all day and doesn't bother to help out. Tang reminds Pigsy not to wake someone from transcendental meditation. Pigsy tells Tang to go get the others so they can leave. Meanwhile, Mei and Sandy were attempting to motivate MK to regain his powers, but MK ended up passing gas. MK was feeling uncertain about his abilities, particularly when it came to using Gold Vision and other advanced powers such as 72 Transformations. Mei mentioned the importance of finding the Rings of Samadhi to defeat the Lady Bone Demon. Tang then interrupted and informed them that it was time to depart, prompting them to prepare and leave. As MK was about to head in Tang and Pigsy's direction, he noticed that Mei and Sandy were already inside the T.E.A, so he decided to join them instead.

Trivia[]

  • The scene where Macaque screams after MK pierces through the eye of his mech appears to be a reference to The End of Evangelion, where Asuka was severely wounded after her Evangelion was speared through the eye.
    • Macaque's voice actor, Billy Kametz, was in the Netflix re-dub of The End of Evangelion, though he didn't play Asuka.
  • Despite the set having several differences to the episode, the battle featured in this episode bears a striking resemblance to 80033 Evil Macaque's Mech, as both the episode and set feature Macaque using his mech to battle against MK, Mei, and Sandy in the desert.
  • It has been pointed out that since Mo was not in Macaque's copy of the T.E.A., he couldn't have meowed, meaning that Macaque made the noise. This was confirmed to be intentional by David Breen on Twitter. [3]
  • During production, this episode was titled "A Traitor Inside".[4]
