Plot[]

In a flashback, the Emperor rushes out of his palace, witnessing the devastating destruction caused by Ivory Lady. Overwhelmed by the chaos unfolding before his eyes, he confronts her with a mix of confusion and anger. The Emperor demands an explanation for the madness that has befallen his land. Ivory Lady calmly responds, reminding him that she has merely carried out his own instructions. She points out that while he indulged in leisurely activities, she diligently attended to the affairs of the kingdom. The Emperor, now realizing the severity of the situation, turns to the Chief of War for assistance, ordering him to apprehend Ivory Lady, but to no avail. To his astonishment, Ivory Lady reveals her newfound authority over the Chief of War, asserting that he now takes his orders from her. The Emperor, feeling betrayed and threatened, accuses Ivory Lady of meticulously planning her ascent to power and conspiring to overthrow him. He also accuses the Chief of War being a traitor. In response, Ivory Lady denies deceiving the Emperor, explaining that her initial intention when joining his service was to contribute to the betterment of the Mortal Realm. However, she claims that the Emperor and his advisors have demonstrated a lack of concern for the welfare of other mortals, which has ultimately led her to take matters into her own hands. While taking the form of an old man, an old woman, and a young girl, Ivory Lady elaborates on her extensive experience, having witnessed the cyclical nature of civilizations throughout countless ages. She recounts the rise and fall of cities, the enduring suffering caused by famine, disease, war, and perpetual unrest. She laments the unnecessary and eternal pain endured by mortals, which has fueled her wish to assist a monarch, hoping to guide them towards creating a truly better world. However, Ivory Lady's disillusionment becomes evident as she realizes that the only way to achieve a perfect world is to start anew, wiping the slate clean. While saying this, Ivory Lady revealed her true identity to the Emperor, the Lady Bone Demon. Shocked by this, the Emperor begged for mercy by offering Lady Bone Demon anything she wants. Dissatisfied by his pleads, Lady Bone Demon claims that the Emperor is no longer need to her and orders the chief to kill him.

In present time, the Mayor explains that Lady Bone Demon's ultimate desire was to have the Mortal Realm world free from suffering, but her plans were thwarted by the pilgrims. The Mayor believes that with Monkey King under her control, there is no stopping her from achieving her destiny. Pigsy interrupts, annoyed hearing the word "destiny" repeatedly. MK confidently states that Monkey King had defeated Lady Bone Demon before and they can do it again. However, Red Son disagrees, pointing out that Lady Bone Demon now has both Monkey King and Mei incapacitated, making it more challenging to defeat her. Tang demanded that the Mayor reveal how Monkey King had stopped Lady Bone Demon in the past. However, the Mayor stated that the information is no longer useful as Lady Bone Demon has corrected the mistake, which was only showing compassion towards the Mortal Realm and not considering the interference of celestial beings such as Monkey King. Now, Lady Bone Demon seeks to unleash the Samadhi Fire upon the Celestial Realm and beyond. Macaque tries to downplay Lady Bone Demon's power, suggesting that she didn't look impressive the last time he saw her. However, MK quickly dismisses his comment, reminding him that he is still held prisoner. Macaque continues to argue his point, claiming that Lady Bone Demon may be stronger than ever but is stretched too thin. He believes that she is using all her strength to keep Monkey King suppressed, along with managing the bone mech and the crystal. Red Son and Sandy acknowledge Macaque's observation, with Red Son frustrated that Sandy beat him to the point. Pigsy, on the other hand, doubts Macaque's intentions and warns the group about the possibility of him still working for Lady Bone Demon and leading them into a trap. Tang, however, reminds MK that his journey with the Golden Staff has made their stories intertwined. He emphasizes that it is their responsibility to write the final chapter of their story, regardless of the outcome. MK, inspired by Tang's words, acknowledges the significance of working together. Sandy turned to MK and asked for the plan. MK explained that if the Lady Bone Demon wanted to use the Samadhi Fire with the bone mech, their plan was to destroy the mech before she had the chance. Red Son questioned the plan, but Tang urged him to let MK finish. MK continued, saying that they would break into the bone mech, rescue Mei, and then destroy the mech before the Lady Bone Demon could react. Red Son then brought up the concern of Monkey King showing up, to which MK confidently replied that Macaque would fight him. Macaque, however, reluctant to be a hero and help them. MK informed him that they didn't need him to defeat Sun Wukong, they just needed him to keep him occupied. He encouraged Macaque, saying that they all could do this. Macaque initially dismissed MK's words, but MK interrupted him, telling that just because he acts like a villain doesn't mean he is one. MK encouraged Macaque to embrace the role of a warrior instead. Macaque agreed. However, to everyone's surprise, Macaque freed himself by using a shadow portal, leaving Pigsy astonished. Macaque simply responded that he couldn't resist being dramatic.

They all use the T.E.A. to drive to Lady Bone Demon's tower. They all go over the plan and suggested that once they get the Golden Staff, they should create the Monkey Mech to destroy the bone mech. As they arrived, MK and Macaque used their bird forms to fly on top of the bone mech while Pigsy, Tang, Sandy, Red Son, and the Party Clone went to rescue Mei. Red Son went ahead to break Mei free from the crystal, but when the others attempt to help, the spirits of the Spider Demons arrived. As MK and Macaque got on top of the mech, the former walked towards the staff before Lady Bone Demon and Monkey King arrived. As they all made their stand, MK and Monkey King lunged toward each other.

Mentioned[]

Trivia[]

  • Macaque's full name is mentioned for the first time since his in-person appearance in Season 1, "Macaque."
  • The scene where Lady Bone Demon taunts Mei was originally longer, and featured a callback to the vision Lady Bone Demon showed Monkey King in "Revenge of the Spider Queen".[4]
  • The sequence where MK describes his plan to get back Mei has an illustration similar to one drawn by storyboard artist, Melanie Shin.
    • Shin later confirmed on Twitter that they boarded thumbnails for the scene.[5]
  • Lady Bone Demon's line "Here to embrace oblivion?" may be a reference to the Frieza quote "Prepare yourselves to embrace oblivion!" from Dragon Ball Z Kai.[6]

Errors[]

  • Party Clone is occasionally shown with loose hair over his bandana, which he normally lacks.

Censorship[]

  • The dialogue where Red Son calls MK a moron was cut during international Cartoon Network airings.
