The Underworld is a realm of the dead.
History[]
Past[]
Long ago, a set of rulers was founded in the Underworld, creating an artifact called the Scroll of Memory which recorded the history of all the realms, including the Underworld.[1] The Ten Kings once summoned Monkey King, who was slumbering at the time, to the Underworld. In retribution, Monkey King crossed his name out of the Book of the Dead, becoming immortal once again.[2] At some point, the Demon Bull King left the Underworld to attack a small village. Only to end up being imprisoned in Demon Hill, preventing him from escaping from the Underworld for five hundred years.[3][4]
In order to initiate his scheme to obliterate the universe, the Nine-Headed Demon released Azure Lion from the Scroll of Memory, which he entrusted it over to him.[5]
Familiar Tales[]
The Tenth King went inside a temple in the Underworld to recover a bamboo slip from there.
Better Than We Found It[]
The Kings of the Underworld convened to deliberate on the recovery of the stolen Scroll of memory, now safely back in their hands, and to strategize following the Jade Emperor's overthrow. The Head King emphasized that severe consequences awaited any of them found complicit in the impending doom of the universe. Meanwhile, the traitor exited the temple just as a fracture materialized in the Underworld's sky.
Collar the King[]
The Court of the Underworld called upon MK, Monkey King and the Six-Eared Macaque for trial. The Kings underlined their presences in the conflicts that resulted in the descent of the universe. The court explained their role as the Guardians of the Great Cycle, and how the cycle were disrupted. Monkey King remembered his previous encounter with the monarchs, with the First King recounting Monkey King's infiltration to the Underworld Temple. The Third King referenced the similarity between his actions and the theft of the Scroll of Memory, ruling in favor for their guilt. The mystic monkeys looked for a way to escape the clutches of the Underworld, then Ne Zha and Li Jing appeared through a portal to apprehend the trio. Li Jing, as the new leader of the Celestial Realm, used the circlet to control Monkey King's actions. The trio were then transported to the Celestial Realm for incarceration.
